KUALA LUMPUR: MCA Youth has lodged a police report against some 10 people for allegedly creating and distributing a forged letter aimed at smearing its political image.
Its strategic planning research bureau chief Foo Seck Chyn said he was shocked to hear that the letter, targeted at Internet users, was being circulated on Facebook on Friday evening.
The letter, dated Oct 3, bore the MCA letterhead and his signature, said Foo, adding that the signature did not resemble his.
“The letter alleged that I authorised smear tactics to be used against DAP and the Opposition through social networking sites and blogs for the next general election,” he told reporters here yesterday.
Foo stressed that he had never written such a letter, calling this a sabotage against MCA and himself.
He pointed out several inconsistencies in the letter, including a false reference number and the absence of MCA’s address and telephone number.
He also urged the public not to believe or forward the letter as it was “purely lies”.
“Don’t make copies or quotes of it and don’t spread such lies. The police will be forwarding our complaint to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission,” he said.
Foo said police had been passed information about those behind the false letter for further investigation.
Meanwhile, MCA Youth chief Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong said it was a “despicable” act that could not be forgiven.
Describing this as slander, he urged the culprits to stop circulating the letter to avoid further legal implications 。
